She Builds Power began with a single spark and grew through collective leadership. Founder and Executive Director Gemma Bulos’s journey began in the shadow of 9/11, when a song she wrote sparked a global peace movement—setting in motion a lifetime of building. A multi-award-winning social entrepreneur, Gemma has spent two decades designing and implementing solutions recognized by the World Economic Forum, Reuters, and the United Nations.
That spark became a wave through collective local leadership. Godliver, an award-winning Ugandan engineer; Comfort, a respected government health officer; and Rosemary, a masterful community organizer and agriculture expert, who bring technical mastery and lived wisdom—ensuring the work is rooted, resilient, and built to last.
